Let's Talk Pickles

Let’s talk PICKLES!!! 🥒

Pickles are a handy and yummy snack to have around and add to the side of any dish!

Although we often feel like pickles are automatically a “healthy snack”, they can often contain not so healthy ingredients!

WHAT TO LOOK FOR:

- Tartrazine!!! This is one of my “try to avoid” ingredients as it is widely known to contribute to anxiety, hyperactivity, migranes, poor sleep and more.

🙋🏼‍♀️If you already have a hyper kid- this is a BIG DEAL!

Tartrazine is used in foods to give them bright colours such as cheetos “fluorescent orange” and pickles “bright green” colour.

😬 If you just went through the Halloween candy stage you may have noticed your kids particularly “off the wall” crazy if they had bright coloured yellow or green candies - this is from the added tartrazine or food colourings!

- Preservatives such as polysorbate 80: this is linked to intestinal inflammation, offsetting our guts healthy microbiome and creating higher blood sugar levels!

This is important to avoid if your child is struggling with digestion or gut health or tantrums and meltdowns from unstable blood sugar levels!

THE GOOD NEWS:

There are so many great alternative without these added ingredients!!

We LOVE @mcclurespickles , @bubbiespickles and @sunshine_farms_

These are available at most grocery stores on the shelf. Bubbies will be found in the fridge to protect all those lovely gut friends 😁
